Scores of academics and activists have signed their names willy-nilly to one or another of several warring petitions that address national policy on nonreproductive uses of somatic cell nuclear transfer, or research cloning. The sad lesson is that in the age of email and instant response, people sign things that they haven't read or don't understand.
